Projects – Loft Conversion, Wirksworth

This stunning conversion makes the most of an untouched loft and transforms it into a space of dreams.

Our clients approached us to explore the possibility of converting their unused loft into a habitable space. Our clients also had the vision of transforming an existing former bedroom into a large dressing room. After assessing the space, Claremont Building Design saw that the wishes of our clients could be turned into reality.

A design to desire

We were able to tailor a design that would seamlessly integrate with the existing home whilst ensuring that it would take advantage of all the available space.

The design features a bespoke winder staircase with a perfectly crafted balustrade. A large Velux window overhead floods the staircase and unique drop-landing with light. There are two sizeable rooms, each with two of their own large Velux roof windows which provide breath-taking views of the Derbyshire Dales.

No compromise is made on practicality, as our design neatly incorporates two vast storage areas tucked into the eaves, both running the length of the building. On the first floor, a wall is knocked through and a door blocked to make way for a purpose-built dressing room connected to the master bedroom. High-quality oak flush panel doors replace the existing throughout the house and are paired with sleek satin-chrome door handles.

Our design creates a unique space which can be utilised exactly as our clients dreamt.

The build

Our sister company, Claremont Construction, performed the construction of this project. The team used their wealth of knowledge to efficiently undertake the transformation.

With our clients living in the property throughout the process, our team planned to minimise the impact on their daily life. We ensured that most of the work was conducted by accessing the loft externally, meaning our clients could continue to use their house. Our team have a high level of cleanliness and are aware of their surroundings, resulting in the works progressing with minimal impact.

When internal access was required, we ensured that the home was left neat, tidy, and clean every day.

Because we believe that our customers should be kept up to date about the progress of their project, we took the time to show our clients the loft as it transformed.

Words from the client

“We cannot recommend Claremont Building Design highly enough. They recently completed a loft conversion for us and we were impressed by their consistently high level of professionalism and care – treating our home as carefully as they would their own. The same high quality of workmanship was also reflected in the sub-contractors that Claremont had chosen for the job. Claremont took care of all aspects of the job from the initial conversations establishing our needs, to the drawing up of plans, to securing building control approval and last but not least doing the job within the timescale we were given at the start.

Before the job started, we were given a detailed breakdown of all costs and we were always consulted at crucial points as the job progressed. We were glad to have secured Claremont to do our project, they may not be the cheapest but once you have them you can relax in the knowledge that firstly your house is in safe hands and also you are going to get the best possible job.”
